Short-Term Rentals
The Airbnb Turnover Cleaning Checklist We Follow
October 18, 2026 · 6 min read · By the Sage & Suds Cleaning Co. team

A guest decides how they feel about a rental in the first five minutes. Turnovers are the most important part of hosting, and they only work when the same checklist is followed every single time.
Start with a walkthrough
Before cleaning begins, walk the property and note anything damaged, missing, or left behind. Photos with a timestamp protect both the host and the next guest.
Bedrooms
- Strip and remake every bed with fresh linens
- Check under beds and inside drawers for left items
- Dust nightstands, lamps, and headboards
- Inspect mattress protectors for stains
Kitchen
- Run and empty the dishwasher, put everything back
- Clean the inside of the microwave and fridge
- Wipe counters, appliance fronts, and cabinet handles
- Restock coffee, paper towels, soap, and trash bags
Bathrooms
- Scrub toilet, tub, shower, and sink
- Remove every hair from floors and drains
- Fold fresh towels the same way each time
- Restock toilet paper and toiletries
The finishing touches guests notice
Consistent staging matters as much as cleaning. Pillows placed the same way, towels folded the same way, and the thermostat set to a comfortable temperature tell the guest the home was cared for. A final photo set sent to the host closes the loop.
